A New Way To Conduct Energy Audits
EMAT began in 2014 when a group of energy auditors, frustrated by the inefficiency and chaos that was all too common in the typical energy auditing process, decided that there had to be a better way. Understanding that advanced technology was the key, the auditors partnered with a company that had extensive experience with tablet-to-cloud technology. Then, they began to develop a software tool that would make the energy audit process more streamlined and efficient, less stressful, and save them time and money.
By the end of the year, the first version of EMAT software was completed and the auditors began using it to conduct ASHRAE Level II audits. They noticed significant efficiency gains immediately, and the partners decided to make the EMAT software available to other companies. In 2016, EMAT 1.0 was completed and other companies began to benefit from the many advantages EMAT offered.
Next Generation Energy Auditing Platform
EMAT 1.0 was a giant step forward, but the EMAT team was eager to improve. Over the next couple of years, the team used EMAT for different kinds of audits and collected feedback from customers. They continually improved the software. The vision for a new, next-generation energy auditing platform – one that had the potential to become a global standard – took shape.
In 2018, the EMAT team began development of EMAT 2.0, a suite of products that would make that vision a reality and bring cost efficiency, flexibility, standardization, and data centralization to everyone who conducted energy audits. In early 2019, the first of the EMAT 2.0 products – EMAT Field Auditor – was made available.
